fred1st > Royal Fern can grow to over six feet tall. Its fertile fronds are also separate stalks, like Cinnamon Fern, but not colorful or showy. The tallest fronds are fertile. This places them in good position to drop their little genetic packages into the wind for distribution.
fred1st > I could have stayed here for an hour as the light changed every second! What you can't tell is that the wind is blowing so hard I'm having a hard time standing, much less holding the camera steady as I pan to capture the three images that make up this striking composite. I'll print this one, and frame it.
