fred1st > I love the lines of this old barn "up top" on Daniels Run, the hardtop west of home. I happened on it as the fog was moving in fast off the Parkway--one of those serendipitous occasions when I was at the right place at the right time and had my camera with me.
fred1st > Another shot of the "Daniels Run barn"
fred1st > This is the heart of downtown Floyd, the one and only traffic light in the county. I don't think this shot made it into the book, but I'll have to see get to know the book better to say. At this date, I have not seen it other than on the computer.
fred1st > These East and West facing flies illustrate "Your Own Slow Drummer" on page 36
fred1st > Buffalo Mountain, the county's emblem, visible from many parts of the county, elevation almost 4000 feet
fred1st > Yes it's true: the dog is more interested in the butterfly shadows than the actual creature that makes them. See page 118 -- Things That Go Beep in the Night for more.
fred1st > Sedated spiders featured in A Handful of Spiders, page 172
fred1st > Grand daughter Abby and Tsuga the wonderdog. I don't think this one is in the book, but then...
fred1st > Illustrates "More Than Child's Play" on page 84, this represents another core element of the book: the relationship of kids in unstructured play and exploration of nature.
